Utrogestan(Prometrium) is prescribed for postmenopausal women who are taking estrogen (hormone replacement therapy); it prevents a buildup of the lining of the uterus and abnormal bleeding. Utrogestan also may be prescribed to restore menstruation if your menstrual periods have stopped.
